Rizon was first established in July of 2002 with the hopes of becoming a network that could provide the very best for its users.
From the beginning, Rizon had great potential and had put numerous hours into creating just that;
something that is greatly enjoyed by thousands. Although Infatech was a well known network, it didn't provide the security,
speed, reliability, and stability that Rizon was capable of.
Therefore, each of these elements are just a few of the reasons Rizon has inherited so many quality users and channels.
In fact, at the time Rizon was operating the largest known channel of 3,900 users.
This astounding number is only the beginning, though. Our network has simultaneously contained over 4500 channels,
23 servers, and 43,000 users. This is because of one obvious reason. People love our network.
Our service and it's quality is what separates us and has led us to become the vast network we have today.
Late November Rizon of 2002 underwent a massive attack. Because of this attack, Rizon was forced to shut down.
Four months later, Rizon returned and, again, has grown tremendously.
Recently our largest channel has increased by nearly one-third after peaking at 5,027 users.
Across the board our statistics have skyrocketed with a maximum of 43,000 users and over 4500 channels.
Rizon is now one of the largest IRC networks worldwide and is proud to continue serving the community.
Because of this, we still strive to be the fastest, most secure, reliable, and stable network possible.
IRC has seen a steep decline in user count do to the expanding Bittorrent use over the years, with the majority of
questionable content moving off of IRC. Rizon has kept pace being the largest IRC network in the big 10 (see netsplit.de) to
offer SSL connections network wide, along with some of the most expansive Services offerings avaible on IRC.
Rizon has also stepped up to work with other networks in compromised host removal and reporting.
